THE SHOW

Mofa & Befa They interrupt a prestigious professor's academic lecture on the famous author from Stratford. for bring the most overlooked scenes to the forefront, due to apathy or lack of opportunities, by today's audience. The cruelest laughter, the most shameful intimacies, the most dishonest acts, and the most cunning villainy will be displayed by the comic machine of Mofa & Befa. Murderers, beggars, jesters, conspirators, cuckolds, snitches, opportunists, pimps, torturers, and other characters who never take center stage will now have the opportunity to be in the spotlight.

The work uses materials from "Macbeth," "Richard III," "Pericles, Prince of Tyre," "King Lear," "Hamlet," "Julius Caesar," "Romeo and Juliet," "Othello," "As You Like It," "Cymbeline," and "Measure for Measure."

Quico Cadaval is a Galician narrator, director, playwright, and actor, promoter of the radio theater movement that emerged in Galicia in the 1990s. He began acting in the late 1970s at the Centro Dramático Galego and in the mid-1980s he founded his own company: "The One-Eyed Clerc”. He is the author of texts such as “The Clandestine Codex(1988),The Nightingale of Brittany” (1991) for his company or “Appalling(2002), María Casares Award for Best Original Text of the Year. His close ties to the Centro Dramático Galego have led to several productions, including “The Year of the Comet(2005), an adaptation of Álvaro Cunqueiro's work, andTwelfth Night” (2008) by Shakespeare. He has also directed the plays “Lonely West” (2011) by Martin McDonagh or the “Opera of Three Grains(2011) by Bertolt Brecht. Mofa & Befa emerged as a contemporary comedy troupe eighteen years ago with a show about Galician theater clichés that was ironically titled "Para ser exactos" (To be exact). This was followed by "Manifesto para un teatro perralleiro"(ManifestoforaPerralleiroTheater), "FinisMundi Circus," "Cultura para dar e tomar"(Culture to Give andTake), and "Sempre ao lonxe" (Always Far Away). For this production, the duo, made up of Evaristo Calvo and Víctor Mosqueira, has the fundamental contribution of Quico Cadaval.
