NUMBER OF PIECES IN THE COLLECTION

Every year, the museum undertakes a major effort to digitize and catalog the pieces in its collection.

The number of items inventoried and not yet cataloged to date amounts to 163,000. This number is approximate, as only items awaiting cataloging have been counted. These items are mostly negatives and secondary materials in the field of photography. This inventory belongs to the negatives of Juan Dolcet and Rafael Sanz Lobato, and the secondary material corresponds to the Ortiz Echagüe collection. A cataloging plan is currently being worked on.

The following table shows the number of cataloged itemsand items in storage by type of work:

1. Catalogued items: 49,609.

  • Photograph: 17,527

  • Postcards: 1,486
  • Negatives: 29,790
  • Painting: 59
  • Sculpture: 24
  • Drawing: 685
  • Video: 8
  • Engraved: 2

2. Items in storage (catalogued): 2,334.

LOCATION OF PARTS

The location of the pieces is divided into those that are kept on display in rooms, in the compact storage area, and in combs. 

1. In exhibition halls: depending on the exhibition schedule. 

2. Comb storagecapacity for 380 pieces.

3. Compact storage: houses all photographs and drawings in the collection that have not been exhibited or placed in albums. This storage area includes the cold room where all negatives are stored.
