Governing Bodies
EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT, ARTISTIC DIRECTION, AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE MUSEUM
The museum's management team was renewed in January 2021 with the aim of consolidating the project through a new board of directors that combines continuity and innovation. It is made up of eight people: the director, the deputy director, the manager, the communications director, two professionals in charge of artistic direction, the performing arts and music director, and the program director.
A particularly unique and valuable feature of this museum is the fact that its artistic direction is collegial, consisting of two professionals with extensive experience who , from the very beginning of the collection, designed a strategic plan for its development. Their experience is complemented by the director of performing arts and music and the director of public programs, teaching, and research, both of whom are linked to the previous artistic directors in their respective fields, marking a spirit of continuity and renewal.
In this way, the artistic programming does not depend on the criteria of a single person but on that of its four members.
Each of them has a certain specialization, but their opinions and votes on the whole are of equal value, so the museum's offerings are perfectly coordinated in all areas and the resulting variety of offerings is presented as a comprehensive whole.
The steering committee meets weekly, every Tuesday of each month, except in July and August. In total, 44 meetings are held each year.
MUSEUM BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The main function of the Board of Trustees is to support the Museum's Board of Directors by providing advice and assistance in raising funds. This advice covers the following areas: exhibition program, educational and cultural activities program, acquisitions, relations with other museums and institutions, and seeking sponsorships.
Likewise, the members of the Board of Trustees selflessly ensure that the Museum fulfills its mission, in accordance with the principles and values that inspire the University of Navarra, promoting teaching and research activities on art and encouraging activities that bring it closer to the general public.
EThe functioning and composition of the Board of Trustees are governed by its own regulations. The The Board of Promoters meets twice a year. and currently is chaired by Prof. Ángel J. Gómez Montoro.
The Museum belongs to the following institutions and follows their codes of conduct:
-
ICOM: International Council of Museums.
-
Europeana: Online platform for museum and archive collections.
-
Oracle: Platform for photography curators.
The University of Navarra Museum publishes the number and date of meetings, the agenda, and the minutes of management and board meetings, and distributes them internally to members of the museum's management board and the university rector's standing committee to facilitate awareness of objectives and decisions made and to coordinate governance.
