A museum for everyone to learn
"Art improves life."
This quote by Antonio López presides over the museum's workshop classroom and inspires many of the MUN's activities, such as school programs, guided tours, and programs for university students. But if there is one space where this quote takes on a deeper meaning, it is in those programs where art serves to welcome all people and groups.
The University of Navarra Museum, with the support of the "LaCaixa" Foundation, is hosting the third edition of SociARTE this year.
The project, which aims to reach 160 social entities in Navarre, began in 2022 after conducting a needs assessment that allowed for structuring and responding in a personalized way to the demands of the 10 social entities that participated in the first edition. Today, there are already 31 associations that are part of this initiative, a community that is growing with the project.
Museums are undoubtedly spaces for art, heritage, encounters, and artistic experiences, but they are also educational and therapeutic environments with enormous social influence.
Thus, SociARTE was created as a proposal for intervention through art in the educational-therapeutic field. It uses the possibilities of creativity to carry out a more profound intervention, with greater quality. It is a global invitation to explore, both the inner and outer worlds in all areas of the person, in a comprehensive manner.
Art improves us, changes us, benefits us. To this end, teams from social organizations and the Museum design specific activities aimed at addressing the concerns and needs of their respective audiences.
This is a closed program for each of the social entities, free of charge and intended to be ongoing. Through these actions involving art, the Museum seeks to serve as an agent of support and integration into the socialization network of social entities in Navarre. We dream of creating a SociARTE network, a meeting point for the social entities participating in the project.
Among the proposals are nonverbal communication sessions, self-awareness workshops, and personal development workshops. The activities, always guided by professionals, have therapeutic purposes.
