Navarran saxophonist Josetxo Goia-Aribe tours the rooms of the museum's permanent collection, offering his personal musical perspective on the works on display through improvisation. His ability to break with tradition and create contemporary universes is the hallmark of this musician, performer, composer, and teacher, who trained in Pamplona, San Sebastián, and Paris and whose musical career has been linked to the world of jazz, taking the music of his homeland as a reference point.

Josetxo Goia-Aribe Saxophonist. Santesteban (Navarre) After spending his adolescence immersed in folk music and popular expressions in his native community, he began studying music theory, harmony, piano, and saxophone in Pamplona and San Sebastián, obtaining a higher degree and an end-of-degree award as a saxophonist. After various experiences both within and outside jazz, he obtained a scholarship to study in Paris at the C.I.M (Centre d'informatios musicals). His years in Paris allowed him to appreciate the music of his homeland from a different perspective, music that has always been a frame of reference throughout his career. On his first album, "Auñamendi," French musician Michel Portal enthusiastically endorsed the beginning of an unstoppable career. Josetxo Goia-Aribe is undoubtedly one of Spain's undisputed leaders in European jazz, consistently receiving excellent reviews. He has played and recorded with many of the best musicians on the Spanish and French scene: Chano Dominguez, Guillermo McGill, Javier Colina, Baldo Martinez, etc. His ability to break with tradition and create contemporary universes is his main hallmark as a musician. He combines his creative activity and career as a musician with teaching music at the Musikene Higher School of Music in the Basque Country since 2002. |
