Pagés has proven herself to be a pioneer in understanding flamenco as an evolving, contemporary, and living art form, using the fundamental codes of flamenco language and researching both within and outside of it.
For this Sevillian artist, iconoclastic by nature, modernity is tradition in motion. Her creative and aesthetic contribution lies in her serenity in speaking without complexes in all languages and making them accept the hospitality of flamenco.
If there is one thing that defines María Pagés' multifaceted creative uniqueness, it is her deep-rooted ethical sense of culture. She creates because she is convinced that art entails a profound commitment to life and memory.
We all know and proclaim that María Pagés possesses the genius of dance. But there is something more to this woman: she dances, and as she dances, she moves everything around her.
Neither the air nor the earth are the same after María Pagés has danced.

“Every art form needs a Pagés.”
