Antonio Ruz Company. Double Bach
An intimate indoor show in which music, movement, and light evoke fragility, depth, and imbalance: Tamako Akiyama's solo with music by J.S. Bach adapted and performed on the double bass by Pablo M. Caminero. A return to simplicity.
THE SHOW
Approximate duration : 50 minutes
Double Bach is a collaborative project between musician Pablo Martin Caminero, who came up with the original idea of adapting J. S. Bach's Cello Suites Nos. 1 and 2 for the double bass, adjusting both the key and the technique (pizzicato instead of bowing), and choreographer Antonio Ruz.
With the powerful dance of acclaimed dancer Tamako Akiyama, the work proposes an intimate interior space in which the performers share and dialogue from a state of non-thinking and emptiness; an accompanied solitude, a desert-ocean, a blank canvas where music, movement, and light (or its absence) evoke fragility, depth, and imbalance.
