MUN Theater

Legacy is a show inspired by the history of flamenco, from its origins to its recognition as Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. A journey through Spanish dance that spans tradition and reaches the avant-garde.

The music, dance, and aesthetics of flamenco form a complete art form that has grown and spread across the globe to become a universal artistic expression in dialogue with other cultures around the world. Many types of music stemming from popular knowledge and the most varied ethnic traditions have been influenced by or have influenced flamenco, and vice versa: from blues and jazz to the most diverse folklore from around the world.

Various styles such as farrucas, guajiras, tangos, alegrías, soleás, and bulerías merge with stylized dance, the bolero school, and updated folklore to offer us a show that takes us around the world through flamenco.

It works with a comprehensive network of dancers that includes many of the best dancers in Spain.

Nexus Company has two fundamental objectives: to preserve and transmit the legacy of excellence, aesthetics, and choreographic knowledge of those who founded the art of dance, and to develop the best talents at its disposal in composition and choreography, in dialogue with the present day.

This mission is accompanied by the project's commitment to creating and increasing audiences for dance, whether through performances, outreach programs, or the creative use of media and social networks.

TANIA MARTÍN and CARLOS ROMERO

Graduates with Honors and Special Awards from the Mariemma Royal Professional Dance Conservatory in Madrid in 2011 and 2013, respectively. After six years with the Spanish National Ballet performing soloist and principal dancer roles and having performed with the best companies in Spain, Tania Martín and Carlos Romero decided to take a leap in their careers and create their own project.

In 2018, they premiered their first show, MuDanza Show, to great success. They participated as choreographers and guest artists in various fashion shows during Madrid Fashion Week (MBFW Madrid) alongside designers Maison Mesa, Oteyza, and Duyos. They choreographed the gala performance for the 2019/2020 season of the Grand Prix for Olympic skaters Sara Hurtado and Kirill Khalyavin.

They played the leading roles in the play El sombrero de tres picos (The Three-Cornered Hat) with the Antonio Márquez Company in 2019. They later joined the Antonio Najarro Company (former director of the Spanish National Ballet) as principal dancers in the show Alento and are solo dancers in Querencia. Carlos Romero is currently a principal dancer in Sergio Bernal's company.

They are also principal dancers and choreography assistants for Aaron Vivancos' show Woman. They choreograph and participate as guest artists in pianist Manolo Carrasco's show Sounds of Spain.

Currently, in addition to continuing to perform as dancers, they direct the EDP (Professional Dance Studio) Tania Martín and Carlos Romero and the CDE (Spanish Dance Company) Tania Martín and Carlos Romero.

Carlos Romero has been awarded the Capri International Dance Prize in 2024.
