Mother tongue is a contemporary dance piece that highlights the individual differences between each person. We are pure, ever-changing nature.

Composed for two performers, Mother Tongue emphasizes, through movement, that life's journey leaves its mark. As a counterpoint to change, roots are represented in movement and built upon with pieces from our historical, political, cultural, and personal context.

With Mother Tongue, creator Eduardo Vallejo Pinto completes his research on movement as a fingerprint. We all have a unique movement fingerprint that has been shaped by our roots and the sum of our experiences. Vallejo, originally from Mieres (Asturias), left his homeland and began his career as a dancer and later as a choreographer, constantly changing locations, which affected the modification of his movement. He is aware of this and has kept a record of it to accompany and complement his research on movement as a fingerprint over the years.

EDUARDO VALLEJO
Director and choreographer, he has developed his professional career in classical and contemporary dance at various institutions in Europe and the Middle East. In addition to his training in dance, he has also complemented his knowledge in martial arts, visual arts, photography, and dramaturgy. He founded Ogmia, his own company, in 2019.

In addition to his creative work, Eduardo Vallejo has shared his knowledge and experience through his teaching at institutions such as John Moore Liverpool University/Institute of the Arts in Barcelona, La Joven Compañía, La Jove Companyia de dansa Gerard Collins, Elephant in the Black Box, and the Conservatorio Superior de Alicante, among others.

In his constant search for his own artistic language, Eduardo has developed the Movimiento Dactilar (Finger Movement) research process, an approach that can be described as an anthropological and cognitive-behavioral analysis of movement. Eduardo Vallejo's work is characterized by its formal and poetic strength, which translates into an unmistakable style. His recurring themes include political and social criticism, gender roles, interpersonal relationships, and their consequences.

OGMIA COMPANY
Eduardo Vallejo Pinto founded Ogmia in 2019, a company that has received support and residencies from important institutions such as the National Dance Company, Canal Choreographic Center, Canal Theaters, Teatro del Bosque, INAEM, the Community of Madrid, and the Madrid City Council, among others.

This was followed by other creations such as Mother Tongue (2022), Glass House (2023), etc.  Ogmia and Eduardo Vallejo have participated in festivals such as the Madrid International Dance Festival, the Xixón International Dance Festival, TANZ Theatre International Hannover, MASDANZA, among others. He has taken his creations to countries such as Spain, Germany, Poland, Portugal, and Switzerland.
