The Little Gypsy Girl
Price: €1 per session. Free access for students and faculty of the University of Navarra upon presentation of their ID card.
For this first season, we have programmed films by the three great pioneers of abstract animation: German-American Oskar Fischinger (1900-1967); New Zealand-English Len Lye (1901-1980); and Scottish-Canadian Norman McLaren (1914-1987). Although the works of these filmmakers have been shown in film libraries, museums, and specialized theaters, they have never been presented together, demonstrating the coherence of their evolution, their decisive importance for contemporary audiovisual creation, and the bridges they build with certain trends in the visual arts of their time (abstraction, for example), which are very well represented in the Museum's Collection.
In addition, the Museum will use one of its black boxes to program a mini-series of films by Len Lye and Norman McLaren, lasting around 45 minutes, which will be screened on a loop in that space, continuously during the Museum's opening hours, until January 2016. This will allow visitors who were unable to attend the screenings of these authors' works at the theater on the scheduled dates to view a selection of titles in HD at any time in this space.
The cycle will conclude with a seminar in one of the museum's classrooms.
