Masterclass in theatrical makeup and characterization

Masterclass in theatrical makeup and characterization focused on classic characters from the Golden Age, taught by Laura García, makeup artist for the musicals Beauty and the Beast, Forever King of Pop, and The Lion King. Aimed at professionals in theater, film, and exhibition sports, as well as amateurs.

General admission: €25
A 20% discount will be applied to general admission prices for Friends of the Museum, Youth Card holders, and university students / 15% discount for large families, groups of 10 or more people, and University of Navarra employees.

MASTER CLASS

Places: 15. Places will be allocated in order of registration until capacity is reached.

Duration: 120 minutes

 

Part One: Theoretical Concepts

Part Two: Practical makeup exercises in the theater's shared dressing room. Students will learn how to apply makeup to themselves and others.

This masterclass on characterization and theatrical makeup aims to introduce students to the world of characterization by tracing the origins and development of makeup from the earliest civilizations to the present day.

It will focus more extensively and specifically on theatrical makeup and its history, with special emphasis on classical theater and more specifically on the Golden Age, using the most representative works of this period as examples and explaining the importance of correctly capturing the characterization of the period in that context and the techniques for achieving this.

LAURA GARCÍA CANELO

Laura García is a makeup artist. She began studying painting at the age of 11 and later pursued higher education at the School of Applied Arts and Crafts in Madrid. In 2001, she began studying Personal Image Consulting, which she complemented with various makeup and characterization courses at several schools in Madrid and at the Center for Entertainment Technology. Since 2006, she has been working as a professional makeup artist in fashion, TV, press, and theater.

Her work in musicals such as Beauty and the Beast and Forever King of Pop stands out, as do her publications in the newspaper El Mundo, among others. She is currently working on the musical The Lion King. She is a makeup teacher at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Fuenlabrada (URJC).
