Workshop with José Carlos Martínez
The director of the National Dance Company, José Carlos Martínez, will give a dance workshop.

PROGRAM
José Carlos Martínez, Spanish dancer and choreographer, has been artistic director of the National Dance Company since December 2010 . He began his studies in his hometown, Cartagena, and in 1987 he entered the Paris Opera School. A year later, he became a dancer with the Paris Opera Ballet, in 1992 he became a principal dancer, and in 1997 he was named a star dancer with the Paris Opera Ballet.
As a dancer, he has performed in major ballets from the classical repertoire, such as Swan Lake, Giselle, Don Quixote, La Bayadère, Sleeping Beauty, Raymonda, Paquita, The Nutcracker, La Sylphide, Romeo and Juliet, and neoclassical ballets by Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, Kenneth MacMillan, Yuri Grigorovich, Anthony Tudor, Serge Lifar, Lander, and John Cranko, among others. He has also danced works by great choreographers of the 20th and 21st centuries such as Maurice Béjart, John Neumeier, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Jirí Kylián, Martha Graham, Roland Petit, and Pina Bausch.
METHODOLOGY
Classes will be aimed at active students and auditors. Active students must have an advanced level of dance.
Auditing students may follow the classes from the stalls.
Classes will begin with a barre and center class, followed by variations and lessons with demonstrations on the execution and interpretation of the main roles in the classical repertoire.
During the classes, both active students and auditors will be able to ask José Carlos Martínez questions related to the subject matter.
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The aim is to contribute to the training of dance professionals and students and, at the same time, to promote an encounter with someone who is considered one of the most brilliant performers in international classical ballet.
The classes will be aimed at professional dancers, aspiring professionals, students, teachers, and anyone interested in the world of dance.
All students (active and auditors) will receive a certificate of attendance for the masterclass.
