This series aims to showcase the MUN collection through the eyes of prominent figures from our immediate geographical surroundings.
In this session, historian and Egyptologist Olga Navarro Cía will discuss the engravings depicting reliefs from tombs and temples in the Napoleonic albums from the occupation of Egypt in 1798, which can be seen in the rooms of La Description de l'Égypte in the exhibition A Promised Land: From the Age of Enlightenment to the Birth of Photography; and how photographers who later went to Egypt recorded the same images, but this time with their cameras.
Biography
Olga Navarro has a degree in History, a diploma in Art Studies, has completed doctoral and DEA courses at the National Distance Education University, and has defended her doctoral thesis entitled Egyptian Treasures of the Matthews-Beyens Family: Genesis and Development of a Collection.
