Trisha Brown Dance Company. In Plain Sight
PERFORMANCES IN THE MUSEUM'S EXHIBITION SPACES
Following its tour of the United States, the Trisha Brown Dance Company (TBDC) premieres itsEarly Works repertoire in Spain at the University of Navarra Museum. The prolific choreographer, artistic director, painter, and dancer, born in Washington 77 years ago, is one of the great references in postmodern dance. Her research into physical movement in the 1960s challenged existing perceptions of performance, and her work has revolutionized contemporary dance, changing it forever. Her work has been recognized and awarded worldwide and is currently featured in the programs of major cultural institutions in New York, Paris, London, and other theaters around the world.
IN PLAIN SIGHT
In Plain Site, TBDC's new performance model, stems from the desire to free the movements created by Brown in the 1960s and 1970s from the constraints of a conventional stage so that they can once again be presented in more unexpected venues. Unlike his previous performances, also created for specific spaces, In Plain Site draws material from his vast repertoire to recombine it and create a program that suits the spatial needs of the performance venue.
This is a very special opportunity to observe the creative process from a new perspective and enjoy a program created specifically for the exhibition corridors of the University of Navarra Museum. TBDC's intention is to create an intimate dialogue with the audience, the space chosen for the performance, and its architectural characteristics, as well as to provide a new multigenerational lens through which to view Trisha Brown's vast legacy.
