INTRODUCTION TO IMPROVISATION WITH MARTA CORONADO

October 17, 18, and 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Workshops
General: €80
Students: €25

Improvisation in contemporary dance is one of the creative pillars that keep movement innovation alive.

The ultimate goal of the workshop for the artist is to share the foundations of her own experience as a dancer and creator in the show Noche Barroca

Through this work with Marta Coronado, participants will find guidance and suggestions in the workshop on how to use these principles of improvisation and composition.

In this way, the group will gain access to the creative process behind this piece and learn about the ins and outs of choreography.

Without realizing it, without being aware of it, we link dance sequences in the most routine or involuntary movements. Movements that can become dance, choreography, once they have been filtered through the contexts of creation.

For any dancer, reproducing this source of dance material and framing it within the idea of "authentic movement" is a challenge. At the same time, every creator is inspired by the idea of conveying the profound authenticity of dance to people who are not normally accustomed to academic codes.

In this introductory improvisation workshop, we will connect with the motor intuition that makes us move naturally.

Through various exercises, we will explore the possibilities of authentic movement. We will close our eyes to shut out judgment, both external and internal.

Each participant will gain confidence in their own dance as they discover that their motor and stylistic abilities are extensive, interesting, perhaps fun, profound, or infinite. In mirror pairs, in instant copy games in triangles... they will become aware of the essentially group nature of improvisation.

Workshop participants will gain confidence in their own dance as they gradually discover that their motor and stylistic abilities are extensive, interesting, perhaps fun, profound, and infinite. These abilities can be shared in mirror pair compositions and instant copy games in triangles. Once participants understand that these games have choreographic potential, we will open the door to larger constellations such as quartets or quintets.
