THOUGHT IN DANCE. AVANT-GARDE AND TRADITION IN CONTEMPORARY AESTHETICS

About Israel Galván's 'El Amor Brujo'.

This session addresses the conflict between tradition and transgression in contemporary art.

Against the backdrop of contemporary flamenco, Fernando López places the subject within the context of dance and specifically focuses on Galván, while Dr. Ricardo Piñero contextualizes the debate within arts theory and delves into its aesthetic significance.

Moderator: Ibis Albizu, PhD in Philosophy from the Complutense University, dance expert.

 

Ricardo Piñerois Professor of Aesthetics and Art Theory at the University of Navarra. He is director of the research group "Aesthetics and Contemporary Art" at the same university, whose objective is to promote the study, scientific research, training of specialists, and dissemination of aesthetics and contemporary art. The group approaches its work from an interdisciplinary perspective that considers both the involvement of art in current reality and its connection with tradition.

Fernando Lópezis a choreographer, flamenco dancer, philosopher by training, and dance researcher in the Dance Department at Paris VIII University (France). He has been a member of UNESCO's International Dance Council since 2013 and has won the First Prize for Dance Research from the Spanish Academy of Performing Arts, among other awards. Since 2009, he has been directing his own choreographic project in the field of contemporary flamenco and has premiered several shows. He combines his artistic activity with academic research.
