Tercer cielo is the new project by flamenco singer Rocío Márquez and urban and electronic music producer Bronquio. An exceptional dialectic dance between flamenco and electronic music, a language of its own that transcends rigid boundaries to continue expanding 21st-century flamenco.
Tercer cielo oscillates between more experimental and more accessible parameters in both the vocal and musical spheres, a journey from the known to the unknown, from tradition to creation. Rocío's singing explores harmonies, polyphonies, and dissonances, coexisting with whispers, spoken word, babbling, and agonizing expressions. A voice unfolding into a thousand voices that sometimes sounds clean and other times filtered and distorted by Bronquio.
All in all, Tercer cielo is a flamenco album. It features the rhythmic, lyrical, and melodic structures of bulerías, rumba, pregón, seguiriyas, tangos, garrotín, milonga, debla, toná, soleá, and verdiales. These styles are approached from different electronic music genres, as the album contains hints of techno, UK garage, electro, and breakbeat.
From these pillars, Tercer cielo(Third Heaven) is constructed, a mental and creative space-time. Between past and future, emotion and thought, memory and desire, sleep and wakefulness. A paradise on the threshold collectively dreamed of on the poetic plane. We find lyrics by contemporary authors such as Carmen Camacho, Macky Chuca, Luis García Montero, Antonio Manuel, and Rocío Márquez herself, who once again pens many of the lyrics. Listening more closely, we find poetic references to Saint Augustine, Federico García Lorca, Miguel de Unamuno, and Antonio Mairena himself.

ROCÍO MÁRQUEZ
Hailed by the press as "the voice of the new generation of cante jondo," Rocío Márquez (Huelva, 1985) has spent more than a decade building a solid artistic career that now extends beyond the flamenco scene, where she is already a clear reference point and established figure. Her restless personality and enormous curiosity are evident in her discography, which shows us both her great love for the flamenco tradition and an urgent need to push the boundaries of that same tradition, exploring and experimenting with melodies, instrumentation, arrangements, and lyrics. Thus, from that fresh live DVD recording of Aquí y ahora (2009) to Omnia Vincit Amor (2020), we find a bouquet of albums with which she has consolidated her artistic discourse and garnered the recognition of fans. For "Visto en El Jueves" (2019), she won the Les Victoires du Jazz award for best world music album, becoming the first Spanish artist to do so. This recognition is in addition to other important awards such as the Lámpara Minera at the Festival de La Unión and the Giraldillo for Innovation at the Bienal de Sevilla, among many others.
At the same time, Rocío has a busy live concert schedule, combining different formats and styles as she tours constantly. Beyond the flamenco and classical circuits, Rocío is a regular at indie and pop/rock events such as Primavera Sound and Monkey Week, as well as on the contemporary creative scene, performing at Matadero Madrid and the CCCB in Barcelona. She collaborates with musicians as diverse as Jorge Drexler, Kiko Veneno, Raül Refree, Niño de Elche, Christina Rosenvinge, and Albert Plá, among others.
BRONCHUS
The Jerez-born creator Santiago Gonzalo, AKA Bronquio, is a young musician with a punk background and one of the sensations of the Spanish electronic scene. Bronquio has three EPs distributed by Altafonte Spain, the latest of which (Vol. 3) features collaborations with Nita (Fuel Fandango) and Cris Lizarraga (Belako).
After signing on as a contributor to Radio 3's Hoy empieza todo (RNE), in 2021 he is working on the soundtrack for Seville-born Santi Amodeo's new film, Las Gentiles. As a producer, he has successfully completed Kiko Veneno's latest album, Sombrero roto, which has been acclaimed by critics. He has also produced singles for mainstream artists such as Natalia Lacunza and Anaju. In 2020, he was selected for Artistas En Ruta (AIE) as well as for the AECID Catalog of Performing Arts and Music commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation through Excenario.
