DMITRI LOOS

He graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg with the highest academic honors in Russia and subsequently furthered his studies in Brussels, Madrid, and Budapest. He is considered a conductor who has never subordinated or adjusted his interpretive style to passing trends or fashions. He has conducted numerous tours of Europe with orchestras such as the Moscow Philharmonic, the Bolshoi Theatre Chamber Orchestra, the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Budapest Strings, the Solti Chamber Orchestra, and many others. In Spain, he has conducted the symphony orchestras of Navarra, Ciudad de Palma, Extremadura, and ORTVE.

His repertoire includes works by Spanish composers such as Lebrero, del Puerto, García Abril (Loos was invited to conduct the tribute concert to this composer organized by the government of Aragon in 2003), Martín y Soler, Toldrá, Turina, and E. Halffter, among others. Dmitri Loos holds a PhD in Music and, as such, teaches conducting courses at Spanish and foreign universities. He is a regular contributor to cultural and political magazines as an essayist. His humanitarian commitment is evident in his work on behalf of children, education, victims of ideological and religious persecution, and the preservation of artistic heritage.

In 2015, Dmitri Loos gave a successful concert as part of the Musical Cartographies series at the University of Navarra Museum, performing works by Shostakovich, Denissov, and Stravinsky.

TATJANA MASURENKO

Tatjana Masurenko is one of the leading viola performers of our time. Her distinctive style is shaped by her expressive playing and her exhaustive and intensive musical studies. Alongside the great viola concertos by Walton, Bartok, and Hindemith, Tatjana's extensive concerto repertoire also includes modern classics such as Schnittke, Gubaidulina, and Kancheli, as well as the rarely performed viola concertos by Hartmann and Bartel. Tatjana Masurenko has made solo appearances with leading orchestras in Europe and Asia. She has been a welcome guest at major international festivals as a soloist and chamber musician for many years.

Her musical career began in St. Petersburg, and she continued her musical studies in Germany with Kim Kashkashian and Nobuko Imai. Her search for new forms of expression on the viola and new techniques and tonal concepts was encouraged and influenced by encounters with figures such as Boris Pergamenschikow, György Kurtág, Brigitte Fassbaender, and Herbert Blomstedt.

She has worked with composers such as the recently deceased Gladys Krenek, Dimitri Terzakis, Wolfgang Rihm, Luca Lombardi, and Nejat Ba?e?mezler.  In 2002, she was appointed professor of viola at the internationally renowned Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Leipzig. She gives masterclasses around the world and is also the artistic director of the International Viola Camp in Iznik, Turkey.
