Daniel Abreu was invited by José Manuel Garrido, artistic director of performing arts and music at the Museum, to create a new work based on the MUN's collections and architecture. The choreographer, dancer, and director of his own company wanted to explore the idea of inheritance and children. During his visit to the Museum's collection in February 2020, he was captivated by a photograph by José Ortiz-Echagüe entitledLa ternura (Tenderness).
Desde la ternurais a tribute to this photograph. Dácil González, Arnau Pérez, and Daniel Abreu, accompanied by Hugo Portas' wind music and other musical references from the 17th century, such as John Dowland and other contemporary authors, will captivate the audience with actions of affection and respect, magic, and mysticism in dance steps.
DANIEL ABREU ON THE WORK
"Last February, I visited the archives of the University of Navarra Museum... Among the many works by José Ortiz-Echagüe, I was captivated by La Ternura (Tenderness). It is an image of a man embracing a girl.
The image conveys the emotion of someone who can contemplate various aspects of life: love, calm, respect, protection... These are ideas that inspire the creation of a dance about affection.
Desde la ternura (From Tenderness) is a creation about sweetness. A sequence of choreographies that will be staged in various spaces throughout the museum. Daniel Abreu
