Heinrich Heine University Orchestra, Düsseldorf
The orchestra has performed in renowned concert halls and has given numerous performances in collaboration with the University of Düsseldorf Choir. The University Orchestra's repertoire includes the great Romantic symphonies, as well as contemporary works and classical and Baroque pieces.

The Heinrich Heine University Orchestra of Düsseldorf was founded in 1987 by a small group of music-loving students. Since then, the orchestra has been conducted by Silke Löhr, who has become one of the city's cultural representatives. Their concert tours have taken them to Croatia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Israel, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, France, Switzerland, China, and Japan.
Under the baton of conductorSilke Löhr, a formerstudent of Sir Simon Rattle, the Heinrich Heine University has become one of the best university orchestras in Germany and a true representative of Düsseldorf around the world. Their concert tours have taken them to Croatia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Israel, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, France, Switzerland, China, and Japan.
Regular performers at the Düsseldorf Tonhalle, they have also played at such prestigious venues as the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and the Tonhalle in Zurich.

SILKE LÖHR (BERLIN, GERMANY, 1966) DIRECTOR
He studied music and mathematics in Cologne and conducting in Utrecht (Netherlands).
He later supplemented his training by taking master classes with Kurt Masur, Peter Eötvös, Jorma Panula, Helmuth Rilling, and Eric Ericson, as well as attending master classes given by Sir Simon Rattle.
From 2003 to 2005, he assisted the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest Netherlands in Dutch radio broadcasts in Hilversum. In 1999/2000, he conducted numerous concerts with the Bergische Symphony Orchestra as part of his scholarship from the Orchesterakademie.
Silke Löhr has been conductor of the Dusseldorfer Symphoniker, the WDR Sinfonieorchester Cologne, the Radio Habitación Orkest and the Radio Symfonie Orkest of Dutch Radio, the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, the Musikfabrik NRW and the Oldenburgische Staatstheater, as well as the Komische Oper Berlin.
In 1999, she was awarded the most promising prize for music proposed by the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
