Oreka TX. PAISANAJE JendARTEA

PAISANAJE – JendARTEA, by Oreka TX with the participation of Thierry Biscary, is a sensory journey that maps the ancestral sounds emanating from popular music and reconverts and transforms them into a contemporary, multimedia language, a digital cartography of space and time that ranges from the local to the global.

Oreka TX created this new show after drawing inspiration from the museum's spaces, collections, and activities, capturing the essence of the project: a creative journey in which the local and the global, the past and the future, engage in dialogue.

General admission: €12 and €8

THE SHOW

The proposal is a creation by Oreka TX with the participation of singer Thierry Biscary. The musical creation is based on the txalaparta and is rooted in the landscape and its people, becoming a sound and visual journey through our geography and the people who inhabit it. Tuned stones that build melodies, cowbells that become music and transport us to the paths of transhumance, wood and bamboo that make us walk through the forests, and projections that interact and integrate with the musicians on stage.

Through a screen, we will connect with people's voices, with the world, with its people and the landscapes they inhabit. A Video DJ transports us to the global internet and brings us closer to the depths of the Basque territory, its people, their voices, their trades, and their stories. The screen is a window that interacts with the scene, a dialogue between formats that jumps from the global to the local and transports us to the depths of our cartography.

The musical repertoire combines different materials such as wood, stone, and iron, with indigenous instruments such as the alboka or ttun ttun and more classical instruments such as the bamboo clarinet, saxophone, bouzouki, and various percussion instruments.

OREKA TX

The sound of OREKA TX's txalaparta has been traveling the world since 1997 when the group joined Kepa Junkera's band. Since then, they have shared the stage with countless artists such as Carlos Núñez, La Bottine Souriante, Aziza Brahim, Taraf de Haidouks, Dulce Pontes, Phil Cunningham, Manu Dibango, Pat Metheny, among others, and have also experimented with other disciplines such as dance, poetry, cinema, and the visual arts.

In 2006, the group developed its first major project, Nömadak TX, which included a multi-award-winning documentary film, an album, and two live performances: Carpa Nömadak and Nömadak Tx en Directo, a show with which they have visited the most important World Music festivals and toured half the world. Oreka TX stands out for its versatility and entrepreneurial spirit. In recent years, they have developed several shows such as Hostoak, which combines singing, music, and dance, and Herritmo, which offers an artistic vision of Basque rural sports.

His latest work, Silex, compiles part of the repertoire created in recent years and focuses on the sound of the stone txalaparta. It features collaborations with the Kalakan trio, Alos Quartet, and We are Standard, and has received the award for best album in Basque from the Independent Phonographic Union.

THIERRY BISCARY

Originally from Anhaux in Lower Navarre, he has sung all styles of music in groups such as Kalakan, Bost gehio, Bolbora, Txitxab, Hegalka, Punpeka, Triki traka, and Kokin. With the latter group, he worked on a cappella singing and began an in-depth study of the voice and body percussion. In 2002, he joined the musical company Lagunarte, with which he performs in schools in the Basque Country, directed by Kristof Hiriart.

His various projects give him the opportunity to return to his starting point: traditional music, which is neither static nor confined to a museum, but rather a living culture, and monophonic or polyphonic singing. In addition to the "dantza piko" (interactive dances) that he leads with the Saltoka group, he prepares his own compositions, assisted by his teachers at the Maurice Ravel Conservatory of Music in Bayonne (Beñat Achiary, Amandine Bousquet, and Peio Cabalette). He has been a member of the group KALAKAN, which is notable for its participation in Madonna's 2014 world tour and its regular collaborations with the Labeque sisters.
