University of Navarra Symphony Orchestra Concert
About to celebrate its first anniversary since its debut in April 2018, the University of Navarra Symphony Orchestra is once again taking a big step forward in its third program, combining two masterpieces from the Spanish and Russian repertoire: Manuel de Falla's Amor Brujo and Dmitri Shostakovich's Suite for Variety Orchestra. In this way, we aim to offer an ambitious stylistic and expressive counterpoint between the two maestros, separated by barely a quarter of a century and located at opposite ends of Europe.
With this repertoire, we wanted to include instruments that are less common in symphonic ensembles, such as a saxophone quartet, accordion, guitar, and piano for four hands. In this way, the ensemble continues its work of expanding the experience of music within the University through its young performers.
For this program, the orchestra has relied on its regular teachers, Juan Mira, José Lozano, and Santiago Blanco, as well as newcomer Diego Arbizu and collaborations from André Cebrián, David Pulido, and Cecilia Berkovich.
