The Museum's collection is the cornerstone of the project, attesting to the role of artistic and documentary practices in constructing the image of the world and its development from the Enlightenment to the present day. With this in mind, the Museum's artistic team has established five areas of focus.

The axes
Art and the construction of our image of the world.
Projects from our own collection
Contemporary creation and cultural heritage
Dialogue between disciplines: plastic and visual arts & performing arts
Reflection on creative processes
The collection and the creative, research, and artist residency projects form the basis of the artistic strategy.
The artistic activity of the MUN is structured around two main areas: exhibition halls and theater, which host visual arts, performing arts, and music. Around these, various events are programmed that allow visitors and users to gain a deeper understanding of each initiative.
In this way, the collection, processes, and artistic creations give rise, through programming events, to a system connected with thought, knowledge, and research, which are enriched through joint work with academia.
Noteworthy elements of the activity include artist residencies, whichprovide a framework for studying the relationship between art, creativity, innovation, and development in promoting social, cultural, scientific, or business projects in work environments open to all disciplines.
In this work, the transfer of methodologies or elements between disciplines, the cross-fertilization between the visual and performing arts and music, and even between artistic and academic research, are part of the spirit and reality of these processes of creation and research.
All of this is systematically collected and, in many cases, published as part of the museum's collections.
