Literature and dance: beasts and other emotions

Friday, November 12, 2021, 7:00 p.m.
Classroom 2

Free admission
Reservation required

Session dedicated to Jesús Carmona.

The third day of the "Pensamiento en danza" (Thought in Dance) series will focus on Jesús Carmona's work "Baile de bestias" (Dance of Beasts).

In this final session, Luis Galván Moreno (professor of Literary Theory at the University of Navarra) will talk with Ibis Albizu about the theme of the bestiary and emotions in literature and dance, with the aim of shedding light on the aesthetic keys to choreographer Jesús Carmona's latest work.

The aesthetic keys to avant-garde flamenco that earned him the Benois de la Danse award form the basis of a lecture on communication between different art forms as a means of expressing emotions, as well as the role of art in expressing ugliness, grotesqueness, and negative emotions beyond the canon of classical beauty.

: on artificial intelligence and movement

Classroom 2

Free admission
Pre-book your invitation and pick it up at the box office up to half an hour before the event

Muriel Romero and Pablo Palacio, from Instituto Stocos, and Ibis Albizu, coordinator of Pensamiento en Danza, will discuss Instituto Stocos' work 'The hidden resonances of the moving bodies II', in which artificial intelligence explores the relationship between the body and sound.

The conference will focus on the role of artificial intelligence in dance, where the expanded body becomes an object that moves between art and science. The collaboration between art and technology allows movement to become sound, thus closing a circle in which everything is connected.
